Ealing Winter 2014 Update

Saturday sessions at GHoF Ealing have continued all winter! We have done plenty of winter fishing, but have also been spending time in the classroom learning how to make floats from scratch and tie up some really delicate rigs!  The process has really helped our regular anglers to appreciate the importance of balance and subtlety when fishing in cold water!

Keith Arthur, a trustee of GHoF, very kindly gave up his time to give a talk on his angling exploits.  The event was well attended with over 20 local anglers coming out on a rather bitter evening to show their support.  Keith talked enigmatically (as always!) and I think it's fair to say everyone in the room learned something and left entertained (and jealous!).  Thanks Keith!

We also restocked the six coaching lakes on site with over 1,000 small, 2,000 6"-8" skimmers and 2,000 6"-8" roach.  This is part of the long term fishery management plan and we are striving to offer some of the very best fishing in London for our juniors.  The fish came from Mainstream Fisheries and were superb, as always! The stocking took place on the 30th January.

We have also been lucky enough to continue hosting the Disabled Anglers Advisory Group. The aim is to make angling more accessible to all and the meetings have been very productive.  Picture attached taken after the latest meeting which took place at GHoF Ealing on 7th February.

Get Hooked on Fishing on Sky Sports!

Earlier this month GHoF Ealing were pleased to host one of our Trustees, Keith Arthur, along with the Sky Sports Tight Lines film crew for the day.  Take a look at the film to find out more about GHoF and the project at Ealing!
