The Wansbeck Project.
The GHOF Wansbeck project was started in April 2007 by Darren McGlen (pictured right), a passionate sea angler who won the North East Sea Fishing Winter League in both 2005 and 2007.
The project concentrates mainly on sea angling. A recently introduced environmental programme takes participants rock-pooling. Beach-cleans are also organised and help young people understand the impact littering has on the habitat.

Recent Events:
The Wansbeck project has been busy over the summer delivering ASDAN, modular work and taster days to the National Trust, schools and projects. Whilst sea fishing is the major focus, a great day in July was had trout fishing at Derwent Reservoir.

We participated in National Fishing Week with a very successful day’s fishing at Druridge Bay. Lots of flatfish were caught and one of our participants landed his first bass.
The fishing has been very productive in the past couple of months with hundreds of fish being caught and every one has been safely returned to fight another day.
