First Scottish Coaches Head South
Following the success of taster days held last August our first wee cohort of potential Peer Coaches are heading South to Witton Park. Five young people will begin their Module Two training from 16th - 18 th May, working with Chris and the team at Get Hooked North East.
The Dumfries & Galloway Get Hooked steering group would particularly like to thank all the staff at Annan Academy and also Get Hooked North East staff for their amazing support in helping to make this exciting phase of the first Scottish scheme happen.
Good luck everyone – have a great weekend!! And watch this space to find out how we get on!!
Funding Secured:
Second piece of really exciting news is our success in securing funding which will allow us to roll-out our first set of Module One training and hopefully a Module Two over the summer. This funding is coming to us via Annandale & Eskdale Area Committee which comprises our Annandale & Eskdale local Councillors.
During the presentation of the funding application Elected Members showed great enthusiasm and interest with regard to the development of the first Scottish scheme and, on behalf of both our local steering group and Get Hooked’s national Board of Trustees we’d like to say how delighted we are to receive this level of support. Many, many thanks and we look forward to inviting Councillors to some of our events over the summer.
Our local steering group is hoping to run four lots of Module One in conjunction with our new Peer Coaches and through that to identify our next pool of potential Peer Coaches for our first Module Two.
All modules will be delivered at Broom Fisheries, one of Scotland’s premier coarse and game fisheries, just outside the town of Annan in Dumfries & Galloway . Another huge thank you to John Wright and Carole Lloyd, owners of the Broom, for their support.
