The GHOF Wansbeck project started on 9th April 2007 when Darren McGlen was appointed as Project co-ordinator.  Darren has always been a passionate sea angler and in 2005 won the North East Fishing Winter League.

The Wansbeck Project.

The Wansbeck Project is slightly different from the other projects around the country as due to consultation with various other voluntary organisations around the area and by talking to local young people it was decided that this project could concentrate mainly on sea angling. This is a new concept for Get Hooked on Fishing although all taster days and modules are delivered using the same ethics as all other projects.

There is only 1 registered level 2 sea fishing coach in the North East and luckily Darren has persuaded him to be part of Get Hooked on Fishing and help deliver the taster days and modules. The project is being very well received by organisations and individuals in the Wansbeck area and bookings are coming in very quickly.

Events.

Modules and taster days are delivered regularly, whether requested during the week, at weekends or on an evening. Anyone wishing to participate in the Get Hooked on Fishing experience can contact Darren directly by either email or telephone.

Volunteering

Get Hooked on Fishing is very open to people wishing to gain further Youth Work experience or angling knowledge by way of volunteering. Anyone wishing to do so can contact Darren directly for further information.
